Literature Text

night like many others,
show me your man-made stars;
red and hot like the air
like excitement,
they burn spirit streets
behind my eyes.

voices tremble, singing,
tonight, again--
we are a flock of one!
may our smiles reflect
suns and moons and
fortune.

swinging a new galaxy
'round beating drums
and thrumming veins,

we danced away the night
the night like many others.

of those others,
there are only a few.
I was going through old files, and found a brief snippet of the summer dance festival I was blessed enough to participate in during my stay in Tokyo. Gods. That was one of the best nights ever. This poem could never do it justice.

My video wouldn't upload, so here is a similar festival uploaded by someone else. They are so much fun, and the sense of community is warm and fulfilling. I had no idea how to dance traditionally in Japan...they taught me anyway. ;) Good times. The best.

:iconglory-be-project:: Day 33...or 34...too lazy to check my file. :lazybang:

You carry the emotion of the dance pretty well into the poem, even though, as you said, it's not really something you can describe. I had a similar moment in Spain when a group of old people who were dancing invited us in to dance. Just brilliant. Heart
